Murakoshi MFG, based in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, is developing the “momonoki project yamanashi” with the goal of reusing peach trees that would otherwise be discarded after deforestation.
We work with local farmers, tree makers, and social welfare facilities to develop products made from peach trees. The “momonoki door lever,” which combines the warmth of peach wood with the functionality of aluminum alloy, won the Wood Design Award in 2024.

About GOOD DESIGN AWARD

The Good Design Award is Japan's only comprehensive design award system, which was established in 1998 by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (currently the Japan Institute of Design Promotion) as the successor to the “Good Design Product Selection System” established by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 1957.
The Good Design Awards are given to products, architecture, software, systems, services, and many other things that surround us. Regardless of its form, the Good Design Award recognizes and awards the quality of designs that people have created to fulfill their ideals and purposes.

Awarded in 2022: ONIME nut®

The “ONIME nut®” has received the Good Design Long Life Design Award for 2022. This award is given to designs that will be supported by people for many years, and the onime nut® was recognized for its outstanding functionality and design.
Developed in the 1960s to improve the transportation efficiency of sewing machines during the period of high economic growth, the onime nut® was hammered into the wood to provide a stable and secure connection between components. Its unique structure was inspired by the shape of the “onime file”. The introduction of this product has contributed to the reduction of transportation costs and the spread of assembled furniture, and it is currently used in various fields such as furniture and electronic equipment.
The jury highly praised the product for its indispensability in joining furniture and other components, and for its lovely design in pursuit of functionality.

In March 2018, Showa Women's University's Department of Environmental Science and Design and Murakoshi MFG launched the industry-university collaborative project “PROGETTO 2.70”. This project, derived from the specific gravity of aluminum (2.70), explores new possibilities for aluminum materials and develops products that take advantage of its lightweight and rust-resistant properties.
The product lineup includes A6 and A7 size trays. They feature designs that can be stacked for a variety of color coordination. These products are available for purchase at amazon.co.jp, etc., and can also be viewed in person at the Shinjuku showroom.
